Puffed Rice ladoo Recipe

Today i have a very traditional recipe .. my daughters  favorite  ” Puffed Rice Laddu / Murmura Ladoo ” aka Bhelicha ladoo popularly known in  Maharashtra . Crunchy , crispy and mildly sweet they taste amazing even as a snack . The best part is this is only 2 ingredients ladoo ready within 5 minutes also they don’t have any ghee in it  .

Puff rice is less in calories &   rich source of vitamin D, calcium, iron, fiber .

Lets start Step by step Recipe

Ingredients

  • 5 cups Bhel/ Murmura/Puffed Rice
  • 3/4 cup Grated Jaggery
  • 1/2 tsp Ghee 
Method
  1. Dry roast puffed rice 2 min to make it crispy ladoo
  2. Grate  jaggery using grater .
  3. Take a big heavy bottom pan and switch on the gas.
  4. Add Ghee and Jaggery.
  5. stirring jaggery and make sure to keep flame slow.
  6. Wait till jaggery will start to melt. We need to stir it till the whole lot bubbles up.
  7. Do not wait for jaggery to change its colour or burn.
  8. Once the whole jaggery syrup bubbles up evenly add Bhel /Puffed rice/murmura and mix well.
  9. Mix till all the puffed rice are coated with jaggery syrup.
  10. Take it off from the flame. Apply little ghee on your palm and make ladoos till the puffed rice is hot.

  12. Once the ladoos cools down it will become hard. So try to be quick and be careful not to burn your palms.
  13. At the end if some amount gets hard and does not come off you can again put it on gas and it will come off easily.
  14. Make remaining ladoos and store Puffed Rice ladoo  in an airtight container.
