Ingredients:(Whole wheat Garlic Bread)
  • Wheat flour (1  1/4 cup)
  • Sugar 1 /2 tbsp plus 1/2 tsp
  • Salt as required
  • Instant yeast 1/4 tsp
  •  Milk  100ml
  • Oil 1-2 tbsp
  • Chilli flakes as required (optional)
  • Fresh  / Dried Oregano as required
  • Butter / Ghee ( Clarified butter)  2-3 tbsp
  • Crushed Garlic / Garlic Powder -1 tbsp
  • Grated Cheese 1-2 tbsp
  • Chopped coriander leaves 1-2 tbsp
  • Mix Herbs  1-2 tbsp (Optional )    
  • corn flakes / rava/ oats- 2 tbsp (just sprinkling on baking tray) 
Method:(Whole wheat Garlic Bread)
To make garlic butter:
  • Heat the butter till it melts or simply microwave it and add crushed garlic and a pinch of salt ( skip if you r using salted butter),  Fresh or dried oregano a spoon of mix herbs , Chili flakes and coriander leaves and mix well. 
Activate the Yeast:
  • take lukewarm milk.
  • Add Sugar.
  • Add Yeast keep aside 10 to 15 min or until it become frothy.  (imp step)

Bread dough:

  • Sieve Flour

  • Mix all the dry ingredients including Activate  yeast very well. Make a soft smooth and pliable dough using the milk  and oil.

  • Knead for 10-12 minutes just like any bread dough Keep the kneaded dough in an oiled bowl covered with cling film for an 2 hour or more till it doubles in size. (You can keep it Overnight after first rising)

  • Gently punch the dough to knock out the gases and knead gently for a minute.
  • Take the dough and roll it like a chapati of say 8-10 inches in diameter.

  • Spread some garlic butter on it evenly and add chilli flakes, pepper and cheese (pepper or chilli flakes as per your choice)
  • Fold it in the shape of letter “D”.  and seal it well
  • Take a baking tray and line it with parchment paper. Sprinkle some cornmeal or rava, oregano and chilli flakes on the parchment paper.
  • Make small slits on the top of the bread with a sharp knife or pizza cutter and brush it again with some garlic butter.
  • Sprinkle some more Cheese , oregano and chilli flakes.
  • Keep it aside for 25-30 minutes for the second proofing. 
  •  Preheat your oven at 180 degree cel for 10 – 12 minutes.
  •  Bake the bread for 20 -25 minutes or till u see a nice golden crust. Immediately remove from oven and transfer on wire rack ( otherwise  garlic bread will become hard.)  

Gluten free bread 


  • You can add All Purpose Flour / maida  & whole wheat flour in 50:50 proportion. 
  • If butter is salted reduce salt while making garlic butter. 
  • You can keep dough overnight after first rise and next morning just shape, second rise and bake. it will more soft  cheese sticks.
  • Activate your yeast is very important step . do it properly ( easy recipe but do it correctly)
